Do a “dry run” = custom fit your lashes:

“Dry fit” your lashes (without the tape) onto your headlights, to determine which side of the lashes the 3M tape will go onto. Decide on a “look” that you like. Sometimes it’s better on top of the headlight, sometimes not. Ask a friend for advice if you’re not sure.

Not sure where or how to install your lashes?

All lashes are shipped with 3M automotive tape, loose in the package.   First, thoroughly clean the lashes area with soap and water and dry the area completely.  Then do an additional clean with IPA (not the beer!), the stuff from the supermarket “IsoPropylAlcohol”, also known as “rubbing alcohol”.

How do I know where to attach my lashes?

The tape and lashes need to be attached to a clean, smooth surface around the headlights. All of the tape needs to be in contact with this flat surface.

It’s HOT here – is it ok to install my lashes?

No worries – put your ride out of direct SUN and make sure the surface is in the range of 55-95F.

It’s COLD here – is it ok to install my lashes?

No worries – make sure the surface is in the range of 55-95F.

It’s HUMID here – is it ok to install my lashes?

No worries – put your ride out of direct SUN – wipe the surfaces with rubbing alcohol and make sure it’s dry.

I have a Golf Cart – how do I install my lashes?

Install the lashes on the fender above the headlights. On some models, there is a crack between the body and the fender, but mostly this crack is too tight to install lashes in. Mostly we recommend just installing the lashes on the body itself. Bend one lash “up” and the next one “down” for a more realistic looking lash.

I have a Harley or a Motorcycle – how do I install my lashes?

Harleys have lights mostly of one or two types. It’s pretty obvious once you have the lash in hand, whether you’d like to install your lash on the top of the headlight OR inside the body of the headlight. Do a trial run and put your tape on the appropriate side. Have someone sit on your bike to make sure that you get the lash centered. Lash on !

I have a Jeep – how do I install my lashes?

Most jeeps have circular headlights and you will apply the lashes to the smooth surface above and around the headlight. Make sure that you center the lashes to the headlights before you start. Apply the tape to the top surface and bend the lashes into an appropriate circle.  Remove the other side of the tape as you go. Go slow. Enlist a helper.

NOTE – on some jeep models, you will have to open the hood and install the lashes on the top part of the plastic enclosure around the light. Be thinking Jeep Altitude, Sport, Renegade etc.

I have a Car – how do I install my lashes?

Most modern cars today have “extended” or “wide” style lenses and our lashes affix directly to the top of the plastic headlight. Bend one lash “up” and the next lash “down” for a more realistic look.  Sometimes on the modern cars, you will install your lashes directly to the paint. Remember, 3M Automotive tape is designed for this.  Remember – a “one up, one down” lash bending AFTER the installation will look the most awesome !  If you have an older style of car, and if there is a rubber trim, sometimes you can slide the lash between the trim and the headlight.  Use one of those “paint scrapers” available at most handy-man/woman stores, to help get the lash into place.

I tried your lashes and they are too wide for my ride. What now?

We design our lashes to fit most rides. You’ve already purchased an appropriate lash for your ride. As with everything in life, we want your lashes “too long” – they can never get “wished” to be longer!  Life is simple – just cut your lashes shorter. Cut off the “outside edge”. Customize. That’s why.

I tried your lashes and the tips touch my ride. What now?

Our lashes are designed with “memory”. Bend them so they don’t touch your ride. Then test things. Drive at speed. Drive with wind.  We design our lashes to stick to the spot you put them in. Experiment. Enjoy !

Why are you using 3M tape? and not “gorilla glue”?

3M tape has been around for more than 50 years and it just is a solid choice. It was designed for automotive applications. It’s resistant to vibration and adheres excellently to plastic, painted metal and carbon fiber. It holds up to impact, moisture and solvents used in routine maintenance.

Will the 3M tape damage my ride?

3M automotive tape will not chemically react with your ride’s paint, chrome, glass, plastics (current market OR after market).

How long does the 3M automotive tape take to cure?

3M tape is fully cured after 72 hours. Specifically, for those with a “need to know”: at room temperature, 50% of the ultimate strength is achieved after only 20 minutes; 90% after 24 hours and 100% after 72 hours.

When can I take my ride out?

After the 3M tape is fully cured (after 72 hours).

When can I take my ride through a carwash?

After 72 hours, BUT we recommend using a “touchless” carwash, as you would on any of your favorite rides – save that paint job!

When can I take my ride up to freeway speeds?

We recommend waiting 72 hours for the 3M tape to reach it’s ultimate adhesion strength.

When will my custom lashes ship?

Typically we ship within 3 to 5 days of your order. Lead times increase during our busy season – think: Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Christmas. Then, ship times are approximately 7 to 10 days. We will stay in touch with you with regular order updates though – make sure to check your email.

How do I remove my lashes?

Our lashes can be removed by slowly peeling them off. Start at one end, and very slowly pull in the direction that they were installed. Do not pull “up-up and away” – pull slow and low.  Most times, the whole lash will come off clean, with the 3M tape still attached, if you do it slowly enough. For any remaining 3M tape, that you are not able to “rub off”, we recommend using a solvent from any auto parts store, any spray recommended for “tar and bug” removal.
